Overview

This 90-minute online course describes the methods and processes that can be used to assess hazards posed by COVID-19 and minimize the potential for worker exposure and transmission of COVID-19 in the workplace. It should be used by compliance officers and others to protect the safety of everyone in the organization.  It assumes that a COVID-19 Safety Plan (CSP)  has been written or is being written.

This course has been written using current public health and industrial hygiene best practices from the World Health Organization, regional Centers for Disease Control, and regional Health and Safety Agencies. It should be noted that only COVID-19 is considered and discussed.

After completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss COVID-19, what it is, what it is not, and what is different about it.
  • Recognize the symptoms of COVID-19.
  • Explain how COVID-19 spreads.
  • Adhere to and ensure compliance with exposure controls and associated procedures adopted by your organization.

This course is designed to prepare managers, supervisors and workers with the responsibility for the hygiene of your facility with the information they need to keep employees and visitors to your facility safe from the COVID-19 virus.  It is also designed for workers, customers and others coming to the facility to learn the the best health and safety practices to better be able to comply with facility-specific protocols.  

The Basics provides the fundamentals you need to plan or to follow procedures for the safety of yourself and others.

The course certificate of completion acknowledges completion of a specific course; it does not certify the participant to perform any particular work or task.
